2. DLT testing / re-tensioning
Each tape cartridge is inspected to ensure that there is no physical damage
to the tape casing, tape leader, as well as, the tape itself. Subsequently, each
individual tape is tested, utilizing specialized back-up software to determine
the tape’s performance on a drive and the tape’s physical condition. Moreover,
through this testing process, the tape is re-tensioned back to its original
position. Tapes are returned unformatted to allow the user to select which drive
format is preferred.

5. Destruction
TRi provides a reliable procedure for companies to securely destroy their
storage tapes and ensure the security and integrity of their data.
Destruction Procedures: All magnetic media received at our facility for salvage
purposes are kept in a locked, enclosed storage area to ensure the security of
materials received. The media is then de-labeled and purged through proper
degaussing (i.e. erasing data from physical tape) procedures, which are in
accordance to coercivity level for each particular media. This ensures that
proprietary information remains unrecoverable. Once the media has been
degaussed, each unit is mechanically chopped/crushed and properly destroyed
according to local environmental requirements.
Note: At the time of destruction, a certificate of destruction will be issued.
